Subject: The Official Share a Story Thread

Posted by: Terry
Date: Aug 24 12

If you are directed here by a FunTrivia challenge, please reply ONLY in this thread for the challenge. Only posts made here will count towards your challenge!

[ And no, you will be DIRECTED to come here. Posting here without having an already issued challenge will not result in anything! Still, you can post a story if you feel like it anyway ;) ]

If sent here, the title says it all. Your challenge is to share a story.

Tell us, briefly, about something funny or interesting that has happened to you recently. Or something sad. Or something scary. Or something exciting. Something funny or strange you saw?

If nothing funny or interesting or scary or exciting has happened, then write us a poem. Or a song. Or tell us a joke.

Or just tell us what you did today. Did all you accomplish was to brush your teeth? Did you fail to even do that? Do share...

Feeling grumpy today? Tell us what irritates you. What TV show can't you stand? What TV show are you watching that you like?

So go ahead, we're listening. The only rules are that you be polite and follow our very simple rules up above.

Tell us a story...

Memorial Day is almost here. I am thinking about the family of one of our soldiers who died just as we were returning from an Iraq campaign. He was my friend.

We just got an estimate for doing some landscaping work in our front yard. It’s $35,000. This is nuts.

Quoted £648.00 to cut a tree down in the garden. Did it myself at the cost of a skip to take it away.

Trying again, just back to the UK from a trip to New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville. A once in a lifetime trip and back to holidaying in European countries now.

I really like the limericks thread in the Chain Games section. Sometimes I participate, sometimes not. Always fun to read the cleverness of fellow FT players

GCSE and A-level exams start today, so that will keep me quiet for the next couple of months.

I hope you have a good time at Glencoe, Laura.

Hello Hello Hello! I asked me Mum if we could have kippers for breakfast. She said "Blimey, is that a Tungsten carbide drill?" "Cheeky!" I exclaimed, "It's just a flesh wound"
Cheers to all the Kingdom and Commonwealth quiz writers. For some reason us Yanks don't know who had the stickiest wicket during the 2012 World Cricket Championships
I'm just having a piss, I love all of you and wished there were Fun Trivia conventions for meet and greets. We can go for the Guinness World Record Largest Pub Trivia game ever!!!!!! "
What in bleedin' hell is a Tungsten Carbide Drill??!?!"

I just learned of the suicide of a friend who had everything a man could want. This reminds me of that poem Richard Cory, by EA Robinson. People never really know what goes on between someone else’s ears. I’ve had to learn this lesson too many times.
If you are struggling, please seek help.

I had a gorgeous display of peonies this year in the garden. Unfortunateky, the storms that came through here Tuesday night took all the petals off. They do not last that long but you would like to have them go peacefully.

Hello from Thibodaux, Louisiana. In 1883 the first Thibodaux Firemen's Fair raised $250 for the volunteers. Back then they had a mule drawn wagon with ladders and buckets. Today we have 8 fire companies and over 500 volunteer firemen and firewomen. This year was the 150th annual Fair. We have rides, food and music attracting more than 50,000 people. The totals are not known yet but they raised $ 1.2 million last year. In the USA about 65 percent of firefighters are volunteers. We are grateful for their courageous acts of bravery in a job we can't do without.

Running a 5K this weekend. Barely trained or adjusted my diet. Definitely not prepared. This is not going to go well but I'm gonna give it my all.
