Subject: Daily challenge - Seasonal scoreboard

Posted by: Luckycharm60

HI there - can I just check if anyone knows if points are only awarded for 4 challenges daily. I get awarded a 5th challenge (I guess because of my level) but points for this one don't seem to be getting added to the seasonal scoreboard figures?

thanks in advance

As I know points are only awarded for the first 4 challenges daily.

The reason the fifth is not counted is because it is not randomly assigned like the others are, its difficulty (and therefore point value) is based on whatever challenge the player needs more of, so there are unfair advantages to be gained.
The 5th challenge is purely to allow us to build towards badge/upgrades.

What Chavs says is correct. The fifth challenge was introduced to give players a chance to 'even up' the challenge levels. The three standard challenges are one each of easy, medium and difficult and the fourth is the same level for everyone.

The fifth is variable and is awarded depending on which level an individual player needs most of - for me this is usually easy, or medium. As time has gone by, my numbers of each level are beginning to converge. My observation is that if you have the same number of completed challenges at the same level challenge five will be at the lowest level.

The other point is that the seasonal scoreboard is not particularly accurate. It's distorted by challenges which aren't scored until midnight, which can give extra points to some players at the beginning of the month - they've been deprived of them the previous month, of course. The epic that gives extra challenges is another distortion. The scoreboard is for interest only and has no awards or rewards based on where you finish. You can complete every challenge you've received and not be near the top of the table even without the fifth challenge complicating matters further.

Impossible to even up the three challenges for long time
with the rule:two lowest challenges, the 5th is easy.
And the last week, too much 4th challenge easy
1)the three challenges are equal, 5th challenge easy
2)medium and difficult are lowest challenges
and equal, 5th challenge easy.
3)too much 4th challenge easy
With this you have 3 challenges easy the same day.

It depends on your personal levels. Your fifth challenge will only be easy if you have fewer easy than medium or difficult. If you have achieved fewer difficult challenges than easy or medium you will get a difficult challenge for the fifth one. That's the whole point of them not being added to the seasonal scoreboard as it varies from player to player.

I, personally, am happy to see the fourth challenge as being medium or easy because I have completed more difficult than those two. From a selfish point of view, I don't want to see difficult as the fourth one, but I fully understand that others need difficult to come up more regularly.

Your comment that you will get three easy challenges on any one day is only true if the number of easy challenges you have completed is lower than both your medium or difficult totals. And if that is your situation, you will be pleased to receive another easy challenge.

The new system means that my totals for all three levels are now quite close, which is where I want them to be.

No easy is equal with the 2 others or
Easy is one up.
1) easy =2843 medium =2843 diff=2843
Easy 4th challenge and thus easy 5th challenge
End of the day if you complete all challenges
Easy 2846 medium 2844 diff 2844
2)easy =2844 medium 2843 diff 2843
4th challenge easy
5th challenge is also easy
If you complete all the challenges
Easy 2847 medium 2844 diff 2844

I still think you are wrong. My experience is that the fifth challenge would not be an easy one in either of the situations you describe.

My 5th challenge today was an Easy one, and now am at 3276 Easy, 3273 Medium, and 3273 Difficult. So, you see, the scenario described by Phil is not impossible :-).

Can someone explain to me how a non-gold member is supposed to get 9802 points in Global Challenge when only playing 5 games? I feel this is memberism, the worst kind of "ism". I don't mind being a Challenger and going against a Grand Dragon Maven Wizard in the head to head 3rd challenge (rolls eyes) but at least let us have a chance to win. And don't get me started on point tree, they have to be the longest questions to read, with only 8 seconds per question.

Global challenge you play two sets of 6 per day - there is no difference for gold and non-gold members. Have I misunderstood your question?

Oh I didn't think I could play 5 games more than once a day! It said I could only play 5 regular and special, but the game ends in 5 hours. Hopefully, I can play 5 more this afternoon when I am volunteering at the children's cancer wing downtown. Thanks Upstart, you are an upstanding gentleman, the shame I feel now. See, I am glad I vented, I got my answer.

ChefMcGee... The Global Challenge is open to everyone. There are two sets in every 24 hour period, with the sets ending at 12 p.m. and 12 a.m., FT time. For you, in Virginia, you could play one before lunch, and another after 2 p.m.

There are five topics to choose from in each set. Topics with a * or ** will count a bit more.

In addition, each set has an 'Impossible' game, which will help to add to your score, even if you do poorly.

So, that's 12 games per day to play for advancement.

Last, but by no means least, is the Twist. Play the Brain Twist once per day for added Global advancement.

Enjoy!
